Summer issue of MAJA comes with the theme “Venture,” guest-edited by Ulla Alla, Merilin Kaup and Mari Möldre from VARES architecture residency.
“Venture” signifies both organised undertakings as well as attempts with uncertain outcomes. Venturing always carries the possibility of failure, and the justification that at least you tried.
With a lightly self-ironic yet persistent tone, the articles move between theory and practice, from planning to putting out fires, from sobriety to intoxication.
Different forms of ventures are explored by Paula Veidenbauma, Emel Tuupainen, Mihkel Raev, Lev Bratishenko, Laura Pormeister, Mari Möldre, Elina Liiva, and Helena Männa.
MAJA is a quarterly architectural review and spatial culture magazine in Estonia. Established in 1994, it provides an English and Estonian platform for architects, urban planners, and designers to analyze spatial design, architecture, and environmental issues.
